Studio woes....

The studio setup is STILL in transition.  It’s been very difficult living in a chaotic environment for the past 8 days or so.  I’m so used to an organized and peaceful home, so I can hardly wait to get things finished up.

Two things are holding up my progress:
re-organizing my storage drawers & bins
not having my new storage cabinet set up yet.

Since I’m creating a new work station with another easel, I’m having to shift some supplies around so that I can be more efficient, but I never imagined that the process would be this crazy.  I was able to get rid of some furniture and that will help to open up the space some.

Here is a pic of the chaos:

I also got the new business cards in:

updates...

New business cards are on the way.  They are very simple; just my name, email, and website.  I should be getting them in few days, so I will post pics.

This week has been crazy….  I am reorganizing my studio space once again and living in an art disaster zone.  This time around I’m purposefully going a little more slowly and methodically.  Since I have tweaked things 2 other times this year, I thought it would be best to map out the area to find the best/efficient work flow setup before moving things around.  I also got a large storage cabinet that didn’t come with all of the stuff in the box, so getting that put together has caused a big delay in getting things completed.  Here are a couple of pics of things as they are right now….Art Chaos for sure!

Nostalgia...

I purchased a Canon photo scanner a few weeks ago to start copying my old family photos.  When I was growing up, mom and dad kept all of our photos in a big box, and since they are deceased, I'm the keeper of the photo box.   My brother and sister both have little children, so we thought it would be best to keep the photos in a safe place and since I don't have any kids, my closet has been home to the family photo box for 10 years.   My brother and sister haven't seen these since I've had them, so I got a great idea this summer about making them a special photo album or just copying as many as I could to a CD for them as Christmas gifts.  (I have well over 2500 photos to go through and I know that I won't be scanning all of them.)  This is going to be a very time consuming project, but I pray that my sister and brother enjoy it for years to come and can share their memories with their kids.    : )

As I was going through the pictures that I was planning to scan today, I came across a few pics that I wasn't expecting...they are photos of artwork from a Drawing for Communications class I took back in 1999 and 2 of my early acrylic paintings when I was just starting to focus on the desert themes.    WOW....kinda embarassing, but kinda fun to look back and see the change and development.   : )

Sketches....

I just got my new scanner hooked up today, so I'm trying to learn how to use it.       : )   Here a few sketches:

Blog Post #100

Today is Blog Post # 100        Woohoo!!!   : )        I'm really looking forward to Labor Day weekend and hoping to get a lot of work done to share here.   In the meantime...  I wanted to post a little portion of a painting that I created back in 2003.  I was going through a very difficult trial at the time and the person w/out a heart was representing the person that I was in conflict with.

Here are some sketches that I've been working on this week for my new colorbook series...  The one at the bottom I'm still uncertain about...it may need to be tweaked a little more before going on another canvas.
